Internal Family Systems directory

This Directory lists those who have completed a minimum of an Internal Family Systems Level 1 training and have chosen to share their details.

It includes those who are professionally qualified as counsellors and psychotherapists as well as people from broader professions, such as business and personal development coaches, yoga teachers, Non-Violent Communication (NVC) trainers, and psychologists. Please check the details of each individual for more information.

The Directory also lists professionals who provide IFS-specific consultation/supervision.

You can:

  • Search for professionals working in your area, in the UK, Europe and worldwide
  • Find professionals able to work with you online or by phone
  • Use the key word search to find professionals with particular specialisations, e.g., those working with people with ADHD or neurodiversity (results will be ordered by relevance)
  • Find professionals who work in a variety of languages, including British Sign Language (BSL)
  • Filter the directory by official IFS qualification levels 1, 2 and 3, along with other specialities.

Note: Professionals in this directory are not limited to those with mental health backgrounds. If you’re looking for someone who has training in mental health, or for a member of a professional accrediting body, you will need to ask them to confirm their credentials when you first contact them. This may be important in terms of their working Code of Ethical Practice and complaints procedure.

Disclaimer: This directory is provided as a public service for anyone interested in Internal Family Systems therapy. IFS Training UK confirms that the professionals on this list have completed the stated IFS training level(s) accredited by the IFS Institute; aside from this, all the information in this directory has been provided by the individual professionals themselves. Asides from anyone listed as a ‘Certified IFS Practitioner’ or a ‘Certified IFS Therapist’ (a separate certification provided bi-annually by the IFS Institute in the US), IFS Training UK does not certify the ability of the people who take its courses, nor do we supervise their work or have any knowledge of their experience or training beyond the completion of the IFS training levels listed below. By using this directory, you agree that IFS Training UK shall have no liability for the actions of the professional you choose or the effectiveness of any treatment you may receive.

Definitions used in the directory

These are the three levels of training offered by the IFS Institute. The higher the level of training, the more training the professional has achieved.

This indicates an IFS Institute-accredited Practitioner or Therapist. These certifications are awarded to those professionals who demonstrate their ability to use the IFS model effectively and safely during an accreditation process. Details of the IFS Certification policy can be found here.

In the UK:

  • IFS Certified Therapists include those who are members of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
  • IFS Certified Practitioners are not limited to mental health therapists; they may have different types of work experience and educational background. These practitioners use the IFS method within the specific scope of their individual fields of expertise.

Approved IFS Clinical Consultants are Certified IFS Therapists with a minimum of three years’ clinical experience in practising IFS after completion of a Level 1 training and have been recommended as an Approved IFS Clinical Consultant by an IFSI Lead Trainer.
